A brief glance shows that the Select and Select Plus plans are superior to the other plans that are listed.  The catch is that they are only available to residence of Honolulu county.  The other three plans are statewide Regional PPOs.  None of the plans require referrals, and you are allowed to see doctors in and out of network since they are PPO plans.  Check out the HMSA Akamai website to see more detail about what the plans cover.

I currently have HMSA (hmo) plan though my work. However I’m about to lose that.

So which of your plans would compare with that?

      Hey Linda,

I don’t work for Akamai Advantage. I just review their plans. Also, I don’t know what your current coverage looks like. Remember when you’re looking at HMO’s to make sure that they include the providers in network that you want to use.
