Asuris Northwest Health TruAdvantage Medicare Plans Reviewed

Asuris Northwest Health offers individual, group, Medicare, and life and disability insurance in Washington state.  They have been in business over 60 years lth Tand have insured over 40,000 clients.  They also boast a network of over 19,000 providers!  They’re Medicare offerings include three Medicare Advantage PPO’s and Medicare PDP plan.  The Medicare Advantage plans offered by Asuris Northwest Health are titled:  Asuris TruAdvantage Basic, Asuris TruAdvantage + RX Classic, and Asuris TruAdvantage + RX Enhanced.  Let’s take a look at how these plans cover you with the most typically used benefits.

Asuris TruAdvantage Basic

  • Premium – $98/Month
  • Maximum out of Pocket – $3,400
  • No Referral required for specialists
  • Hospital copay – $200/day, Days 1-5
  • Doctor’s visits – $15 – Primary; $40 – Specialists
  • Outpatient Surgery – $0 – $200 copay
  • Labs – $0 copay
  • Diagnostic Procedures and tests – $0 Copay
  • X-rays – $0  copay
  • No Part D drug coverage
  • Dental – 20% copay for exams, cleanings, and x-rays
  • Hearing – Routine hearing exams not covered
  • Vision – Routine vision exam = $40 copay

Asuris TruAdvantage + RX Classic

  • Premium – $138/Month
  • Maximum out of Pocket – $3,400
  • No Referral required for specialists
  • Hospital copay – $200/day, Days 1-5
  • Doctor’s visits – $15 – Primary; $40 – Specialists
  • Outpatient Surgery – $0 – $200 copay
  • Labs – $0 copay
  • Diagnostic Procedures and tests – $0 copay
  • X-rays – $0  copay
  • Part D Deductible – $220
  • Part D Drugs – Tier 1 = $7.50; Tier 2 = $33; Tier 3 = $45; Tier 4 =$90; Tier 5 = 27%
  • Plan does not cover generics during the coverage gap
  • Dental – 20% copay for exams, cleanings, and x-rays
  • Hearing – Routine hearing exams not covered

Asuris TruAdvantage + RX Enhanced

  • Premium – $215/Month
  • Maximum out of Pocket – $2,800
  • No Referral required for specialists
  • Hospital copay – $150/day, Days 1-5;
  • Doctor’s visits – $10 – Primary; $30 – Specialists
  • Outpatient Surgery – $0 – $100 copay
  • Labs – $0 copay
  • Diagnostic Procedures and tests – $0 copay
  • X-rays – $0  copay
  • Part D Deductible – $0
  • Part D Drugs – Tier 1 = $5; Tier 2 = $33; Tier 3 = $45; Tier 4 = $90; Tier 5 = 33%
  • Plan covers many generics during the coverage gap
  • Dental – 20% copay for exams, cleanings, and x-rays
  • Hearing – Routine hearing exams not covered
  • Vision – Routine eye exam = $30 copay
These plans are extremely expensive!  At these prices you may want to consider looking at Medicare supplements which work with Original Medicare and a Part D drug plan.  The copays and coverages appear to be standard with many other plans that I have reviewed.  You definitely want to compare other Medicare Advantage plans on medicare.gov to see how they compare in cost to these plans.  You can verify if your providers are in the plan’s network; however, it is not as important since this plan is a PPO and not an HMO.
