Atrio Health Plans Gold And Platinum Medicare Review

Atrio Health Plans offers Medicare Advantage plans in two counties in Oregon.  Unlike some health plans that also offer individual and group coverage, Atrio focuses on providing quality Medicare coverage.  They offer PPO plans as well as HMO and Special Needs plans.  Medicare Advantage plans can be an excellent alternative to Original Medicare and a Part D drug plan if you enroll in the right one, and the plan makes sense for you.  The plans they offer are Atrio Bronze, Atrio Bronze RX, Atrio Silver, Atrio Silver Rx, Atrio Gold, Atrio Gold RX, Atrio Platinum, Atrio Platinum RX, and the Atrio Special Needs Plan.  Let’s take a look at the Gold and Platinum plans:

Atrio Gold RX Plan (PPO)

  • Premium – $147/monthly
  • Out of Pocket Maximum – $2,000
  • Referrals Required for some Specialists
  • Hospital Copay – $200/day Days 1-
  • Doctor’s Visits – Primary = $20; Specialist = $25
  • Outpatient Surgery – $200 copay
  • Labs – 0% copay
  • Diagnostic Procedures/Tests – 15% copay
  • X-rays – 15% copay
  • Part D Deductible – $0
  • Part D Drug Copays – Tier 1 = $4; Tier 2 = $35; Tier 3 = $75; Tier 4 = 33%
  • Dental – 1 exam, cleaning, and x-ray for $25 copay
  • Routine hearing exams not covered
  • Routine eye exam for $25 copay

Atrio Platinum RX Plan (PPO)

  • Premium – $186/monthly
  • Out of Pocket Maximum – $1,300
  • Referrals Required for some Specialists
  • Hospital Copay – $175/day Days 1-8
  • Doctor’s Visits – Primary = $10; Specialist = $15
  • Outpatient Surgery –  $175 copay
  • Labs – 0% copay
  • Diagnostic Procedures/Tests – 10% copay
  • X-rays – 10% copay
  • Part D Deductible – $0
  • Part D Drug Copays – Tier 1 = $4; Tier 2 = $35; Tier 3 = $75; Tier 4 = 33%
  • Dental – 1 exam, cleaning, and x-ray for $15 copay
  • Hearing – Routine hearing exam $15 copay
  • Vision – Eye exam for $15 copay

These plans both have high premiums and the benefits just don’t add up!  Save some money and enroll into the Bronze RX Plan!  You can always consult with an independent agent, or visit medicare.gov to make more plan comparisons.
