BlueMedicare Regional PPO for Florida Review 2012

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida offers a regional PPO for Medicare beneficiaries in Florida.  The plan is of course named BlueMedicare Regional PPO.  It is available across the state of Florida for all Medicare beneficiaries.  Since it is backed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield you know that the plan has a strong backing.  But do you know if the plan covers well or what the plan costs?  I will review the most frequently used benefits as well as the costs so you can make the decision that’s right for you.

This plan is by far one of the best PPO plans offered in Florida.  Previously BCBS did not compete well in the Medicare Advantage market in Florida.  This plan is now competitive with both the AARP plan and the Human PPO plan.  You still need to check and see if your providers are in network for you as your costs will greatly increase for out of network benefits.  The extra benefits that they offer are very good, and they also offer your Tier 1 drugs at a $0 copay if you use mail order.  This is the same thing that the Humana Reader’s Digest Healthy Living Plan offers as well.
