Health Springs Insurance

Healthsprings offers Medicare insurance in many states across the US.  Their covered states include Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and AR Blue Cross Medi Pak Advantage Option 1 and 2 ReviewWashington D.C.  They also offer a stand alone Medicare prescription drug plan nationwide.  Healthspring’s insurance is a Medicare Advantage plan, and that is the only type of insurance they offer with the exception of the prescription drug plan(PDP).

HealthSpring Insurance Types

Depending on where you live Healthspring offers several different plan types as well as networks.  In places like Alabama their network is expansive and covers the majority of providers, but in places like Florida they have minimal doctors and facilities in their network.  This is important because Healthspring is an HMO which requires you to be in the network at all times!  They also offer an HMO-POS(Point of Service); however, the POS option is very difficult to use.  Their plan designs consist of an option without prescription drug coverage, an option with prescription drug coverage, an enhanced option that gives you more benefits and costs more per month, and also a SNP (Special Needs Plan) for people that have Medicaid as well as Medicare

Is HealthSpring Insurance Right For Me?

One big advantage of Healthspring is that they do concentrate on customer service for the beneficiary and the providers.  Their business model is to provide the best quality care for their beneficiaries!  They also provide many extra benefits that you may find beneficial such as dental and vision coverage as well as fitness center memberships in some of their plans.  The downside is that the HMO can be very restrictive in areas that don’t have a large network.  Always consider the following when choosing your Medicare insurance provider:

  1. Is my doctor/hospital in the network?
  2. How much do I anticipate using the coverage?
  3. Are my prescriptions covered in their formulary
  4. What does the plan cost per month?
