Reviewing The Best Medicare Plans and Medicare Insurance

Humana Walmart Preferred Enhanced and Complete Plans Review

This article is a more thorough review of the Humana Medicare Part D drug offerings that were covered in my previous article.  Humana currently offers three Medicare Prescription Drug plans in 2012.  The three plans are the Humana Walmart Preferred RX plan, Humana Enhanced, and the Humana Complete PDP’s.  I won’t spend much time here talking about Humana since you probably are already familiar with the company due to their extensive advertising.  Let’s look at the three different plans in detail and see how they differ in benefits:

Humana Walmart Preferred RX

The Humana Walmart Preferred Rx plan is available in 46 of the 50 United States.  It also carries one of the lowest premiums available in most states.  You are only covered at network pharmacies with this plan.  They do have preferred pharmacies with low co-pays compared to their non-preferred pharmacies!

  • Premium is $15.10
  • Deductible is $320
  • Tier 1 $1 co-pay preferred pharmacy and $10 co-pay non-preferred pharmacy
  • Tier 2 $5 co-pay preferred pharmacy and $15 co-pay non-preferred pharmacy
  • Tier 3 20% co-pay preferred pharmacy and 37% non-preferred pharmacy
  • Tier 4 35% co-pay preferred pharmacy and 40% non-preferred pharmacy
  • $0 co-pay for mail order on Tier 1 and Tier 2

Humana Enhanced PDP

The Humana Enhanced PDP unlike the Walmart Preferred RX plan has different premiums and co-pays depending on what state you live in.  I’m going to list the amounts for Florida below.  If you would like to see how your state compares visit humana-medicare.com.

  • Premium is $41.50
  • Deductible is $0 in all states
  • Tier 1 $6 co-pay preferred and $11 non-preferred
  • Tier 2 $38 co-pay preferred and $43 non-preferred
  • Tier 3 $70 co-pay preferred and $75 non-preferred
  • Tier 4 33% co-pay
  • $0 co-pay for mail order on Tier 1 preferred

Humana Complete PDP

The Humana Complete PDP varies in premium and co-pays from state to state like the Enhanced plan.  Below is the benefits for the state of Florida.

  • Premium is $109.80
  • Deductible is $0 in all states
  • Tier 1 $4 co-pay preferred and $9 non-preferred
  • Tier 2 $37 co-pay preferred and $42 non-preferred
  • Tier 3 $68 co-pay preferred and $72 non-preferred
  • Tier 4 33% co-pay
  • $0 co-pay for mail ofer on Tier 1 preferred
  • Coverage through the gap on over 65% of generic drugs and over 10% of brand drugs
This plan is probably only used for people who hit the gap and have their drugs covered through the gap.

Humana Value-Added Services

Humana includes Value-Added Services in their drug plans.  These services include discounts on over the counter products.  They also include disounts on vision, hearing, and dental services.  They also include a discount on Lifeline Medical Alert Systems.
